Ordinal numbers are used to indicate order — first, second, third etc. Here are the most important ones:
Ordinal numbers 1–10

| 2 | andre — second | Det er andre etasje. — It is the second floor. |
| 3 | tredje — third | Han bor i tredje gate. — He lives in the third street. |
| 4 | fjerde — fourth | Det er fjerde januar. — It is the fourth of January. |
| 5 | femte — fifth | Femte mai er en fridag. — The fifth of May is a holiday. |
| 6 | sjette — sixth | Vi møtes den sjette. — We meet on the sixth. |
| 7 | sjuende — seventh | Sjuende etasje har utsikt. — The seventh floor has a view. |
| 8 | åttende — eighth | Det er åttende gang. — It is the eighth time. |
| 9 | niende — ninth | Han er niende i køen. — He is ninth in the queue. |
| 10 | tiende — tenth | Den tiende er min bursdag. — The tenth is my birthday. |
